Not feeling thankful...

Just having one of those days. Jason was off of work for a whole week and I LOVED every minute of it!! My family came from Chicago to visit, the kids were off school for a week, it was an awesome week. Then yesterday Jason still had one day off of work so we spent the day together and enjoyed some alone time!
Now it is Tuesday, and everyone is gone. No more days off of work, no more days off of school, and no more family in town. My house has been so busy and packed full of people and now I feel so alone and depressed! The weather outside is nice but rainy and dreary, it is playing with my emotions! All of that whining and complaining for what? I still have much to be thankful for, I just have to dig a little deeper today to do it. So, here goes, today I am thankful for:

1) Rainy weather, I know we need it.
2) A good job for my hubby.
3) Good schools and teachers for my kiddos.
4) Food in the house so I don't have to go grocery shopping just yet!
5) Lounge wear for when I feel lazy, depressed, and want to stay in all day!

Hope you are all having a GREAT day today and don't worry, I'll find my happy again and be back to normal soon! Number one happy is in this picture! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!

Thankful in the hard times

Last night one of our family pets died. Blacky was our dog for roughly 8 years. We were living in AR when we found her, a stray wandering around the neighborhood. You could tell she was only a puppy and she was so skittish. Poor baby had mange and had just been dumped. We couldn't just ignore her so we brought her into our home, nursed her to health and had a new family friend.

I think we already had Zoe when we found Blacky so Zoe and Blacky have grown up with each other, it's all they have ever known. Blacky has moved with us from North West Arkansas to Little Rock and then to GA! She has had a good life and she has been loved!

This was the first time our kids have really had to deal with death and it was very hard! Nicholas just bawled his little eyes out, Stephie cried a lot too. Ethan and Lexi were sad too but weren't as outward in showing it. Tears were shed and this Mama's heart broke, if not, just for her kids!! What a rough life lesson! But I am reminded why I have such great hope in Jesus and why I am glad we can use bad time to focus on the good so today I am thankful for:

1) A great family pet that was a part of our lives for 8 years
2) My hope in Jesus and a day when there will be no more hurt and no more death!!
3) A hope for doggy heaven...not sure Blacky will be there but I'm sure God will give us some puppies to play with, right?! :-)
4) Life lessons, they aren't always easy but they make us stronger and mold us into the people we are and will become some day
5) My kiddos and their precious hearts!

I am really sucking at this thankful "thing"

I think I have been doing this thankful "thing" for over 30 days and yet here I am at day 17, for me, not actually day 17! OYE!! I suck at this!! Oh well, I am trying and will keep pushing on, even if my 30 days takes me 50...or more.
Today I have a HUGE list to tackle for grocery shopping, I am just getting over a cold and right now I am not thankful for any of that BUT, I am going to put on my big girl panties, suck it up, move forward, and be thankful!! (That is the worst run on sentence ever, sorry Becky M) Okay, today I am thankful for:

1) A huge grocery shopping list because it means I have family and friends to cook for
2) Getting over a cold because it means I will be healthy over the Holiday
3) This time next week my sissy and my Mommy (along with dad and brother in law) will be here with me!!
4) Starbucks coffee made at home
5) Lovely November weather to do it all in!! I mean, this would all really suck if it was deathly cold outside..deathly cold as in, anything below 50! Brrrr!

Day 15, half way there

This little task has been hard and I am finally half way there, give or take a few days of not blogging!! Being thankful, is not very hard but having time to write it all down has been hard, especially on the weekends! Oye! Oh well, I am enjoying this little thankful blog journey. It really does help put my life in perspective and show me all I have to be thankful for!!
Day 15, what I am thankful for:

1) Online shoe sale! $50 shoes for $12.95, woohoo!!
2) Teachers that are understanding and allow my child to re-do a project!!
3) Cab Franc Wine
4) Today being Wednesday, no school tomorrow, and Friday is right around the corner!!
5) E-mail, I love being able to keep up with friends near and far! Communication is never more than an e-mail away and I love that!!

Also, my little side note for today is about the Cab Franc wine I keep talking about. I would be remiss to let you think that I know all things about wine. I just talk big but really know very little. One of mine and Jason's favorite red wines is called a Cab Franc, I have not idea what kind of grape it is or what Cab Franc is but I know we like it!! :-) It is not a wine you can walk into the grocery store and just find (at least not in Georgia), so I buy my wine from a few select wineries and just thought I would share them with you.
The first place I buy wine from is from a winery in North Carolina. We found this winery after Jason had a long layover in the Charlotte airport and where they happen to have a little tasting room. He tried the Cab Franc and we have been in love ever since. The winery is called Shelton Vineyards and depending on where you live, you may be able to get their wine shipped to you too!! (there are a lot of weird laws with in the USA about what states can ship alcohol to which states) I hate the law because I can't get any wine from California shipped to me!! :-(

The second winery I like to buy wine from is out of Grapevine, TX. Grapevine is this quaint little town outside of Dallas that has this cute little downtown! On the main strip in Grapevine is literally like 4 -6 wineries, it is so cool! So, when Jason was working in Dallas we went and visited him and then drug all the kids to the wineries, it was so much fun! (the kids get grape juice samples and crackers so it's all good!) :-) One of our favorite wineries in Grapvine is called Su Vino and I just found out that they have made a Cab Franc. I haven't tried it yet and they are still in the process of making it available for order online but once they do, I am going to check it out. I have high hopes since I like a lot of their other wines.
So, if you want to check them out here are the website address's...and if you can't order from them because of where you live, just come visit me, I am guaranteed to have a bottle of Cab Franc from somewhere that we can open and enjoy together!

Thankful

I got a list minute phone call to come help in the nursery at our local MOPS today. I said yes and then prayed that I would get put with babies and not the toddlers. If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE babies!! Love kissing 'em, love hugging 'em, love snuggling them, I just think babies are the best thing ever!! I must love them since I had four of my own! :-) Those babies grow up though and when they do, they want to play and they tell you no and they don't want to snuggle, I don't like that!! I loved my kids as they grew up and became toddlers and then little kids, but they were mine so they were special! If I have a choice though and get asked to watch a baby, the answer will always be yes!! It was so great to hold these little babies today, feed them their bottles, rock them to sleep and then send them home with their grateful Mom!! I know what a ministry MOPS was to me and I love that I finally got my butt back to help on the other end!! Today I am thankful for:

1) Being able to give back and hold some babies!
2) Being done with my own babies and having 4 children that make my heart swell with pride!
3) I can almost taste Wednesday and the middle of the week!
4) Sparkling Shiraz that is perfect for the holidays!
5) Staying in budget at the grocery store!

Day 11, with no repeats

I decided to look back on what I have posted being thankful for and found that I have been cheating. I seem to be thankful for the same things over and over again! Things like my warm weather and my hubby! What can I say, at least I am consistent! :-) To help me along with my thankfulness and trying not to repeat myself I have a new idea. For the next couple days I am going to pick people from my family and tell you why I am thankful for them, because obviously, family is super important to me! I LOVE THEM ALL!! :-)
Today's post: Why I am thankful for my hubby

1) He makes me feel desired!!
2) He is patient with me
3) He indulges some of my wants and all of my needs!
4) He has morals and ethics and cares about the Spiritual path of our family
5) He loves and understands me like no one else can

I could go on and on but I will stop at 5! I am really blessed to have him as a husband and to have spent the past 15 years with him as my husband!! We really do just "work"!!

Day 9...or so

Instead of trying to make up for lost time I am just going to continue on my pledge to be thankful for 30 days. I know I missed a couple, but that is just life. To be honest, I am not feeling very thankful right but know I do have plenty to be thankful for. Got that? So, with out further ado, here are my 5 things to be thankful for today/this past weekend.

1) Family memories carving pumpkins.
2) Handing out candy in my neighborhood, it really is AWESOME!!
3) Free Redbox codes the first Monday of every month.
4) Friends that share good books with me.
5) Days alone with Jason while the kids are gone at school! ;-)
